How - getting into postgraduate education- Postgraduate studies since 1971 (licentiates and doctoral degrees)
- Currently 1-2 licentiates in social sciences and 2-3 doctors each year
- Memberships: Doctoral School of Changing Communications (MUUVI); Tampere Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering (TISE)

- Information and records management (REGIM)
- Information policy and library history
The application process- Applicants for research should first contact the professor of a discipline or the mentor to formulate a research plan. Guide for postgraduate (doctoral) studies 2003-2005
- An application form is available from the Office of The Faculty of Information Sciences and as a pdf document on the Internet.
- Degree certificate of main subject required
- A proposal for a studies or for a research plan
- The curriculum is formulated in with advice from the mentor of the research.
