How - getting into postgraduate education

  • Postgraduate studies since 1971 (licentiates and doctoral degrees)
  • Currently 1-2 licentiates in social sciences and 2-3 doctors each year
  • Memberships: Doctoral School of Changing Communications (MUUVI); Tampere Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering (TISE)

Main subjects of postgraduate studies:

  • Information retrieval (FIRE)
  • Information seeking (REGIS)
  • Information and records management (REGIM)
  • Information policy and library history

The application process

  • Applicants for research should first contact the professor of a discipline or the mentor to formulate a research plan. Guide for postgraduate (doctoral) studies 2003-2005
  • An application form is available from the Office of The Faculty of Information Sciences and as a pdf document on the Internet.
  • Degree certificate of main subject required
  • A proposal for a studies or for a research plan
  • The curriculum is formulated in with advice from the mentor of the research.
