Research activities at the department

The major fields of research at the Department are information retrieval, information needs and seeking, and information management. The expertise in these fields is developed in Special Interest Groups which also serve the needs of doctoral education. In addition, contract research services are available in the above-mentioned fields. The Department is the leading research unit within information studies in Finland. Also seen internationally, the quality and visibility of research conducted at the Department are high.
