Joint master of leadership in LIS - Planning in progress

The overall purpose of this program is to meet the needs of the Nordic LIS institutions concerning professional leadership and management competence. 

Main objectives are to equip the graduates of the programme with the knowledge and skills needed to lead LIS institutions and their staff as competitive providers of services for knowledge society and communities as well as individual members, to manage them as competitive actors on the information market, to apply critical thinking and research methodology for introducing innovation and change in LIS institutions and services, to enhance the understanding of leadership and management in LIS through conducting academic and applied research. 

As target groups are the leaders and managers of the Nordic libraries and information services, Bachelors of LIS planning careers as managers and leaders in LIS or similar (e.g., archives, museums) institutions and individuals with various academic background willing to re-profile and start management careers in LIS institutions, as well as students with specific interests in the general issues of LIS leadership and management, and for whom this program will be a preparation for PhD studies. 

The coordinator of the programme is University College of Borås, Sweden.
