The Department of Information Studies and Interactive Media at Tampere University educates professionals for service, administrative, planning and research tasks in the whole sector of information management, including library and information services. The emerging information management market both in the private and public sectors demand professionals with a sound knowlegde provided by IS. The aspects of Information Studies particularly emphasised in the curriculum are information retrieval, information seeking and information management.

Information studies and hypermedia are together INFIM

The Department of Information Studies and Interactive Media (INFIM) at the University of Tampere was born at the beginning of 2009, when the Hypermedia Laboratory and the Department of Information Studies merged.
